The story

About the crew

We are Isabelle, Gabriel, Walter, and Ava – a family that has chosen to trade the routines of everyday life for the freedom of the sea. For us, life on the water is not just a passion; it’s a lifestyle. We spend most of the year aboard, exploring new places and embracing the freedom of life at sea.

Our sailing journey began with a Maxi 77, which we shared with a group of friends – the perfect way to start sailing and owning a boat. Isabelle had never stepped foot on a sailboat before, while Gabriel, who grew up sailing, traded his car for an Albin Viggen as a teenager. When we felt it was time to take the next step, we purchased a Cenit 33 – a Swedish-built sailboat from Småland – together with the same group of friends.

TIME FOR OUR OWN BOAT

As our dreams grew, so did our need for our own boat. When our son Walter was born, Ally III – a Bavaria 35 Cruiser – also entered our lives. At first, it wasn’t love at first sight for Isabelle, but the boat’s potential quickly captured our hearts. With three cabins, a furling mast, and a shallow draft of 1.65 meters, Ally III had everything we were looking for, even though she required some work on our part to reach her full potential.

OUR ADVENTURES

In 2023, we set off on an incredible, yet challenging journey through Europe’s canals, traveling all the way from Stockholm to Marseille – a distance of 1,630 nautical miles and approximately 250 locks. This adventure gave us unforgettable experiences and new perspectives on life aboard. The following year, in 2024, we set course for Poland, a voyage that provided even more insight into long-distance sailing with children onboard.

Today, Isabelle is not only our creative force, both onboard and online, but she also takes the helm – both figuratively and literally. Gabriel, who began sailing at an early age, is our adventurous and tireless fixer, constantly learning more about all things boat-related.

Together with our two little sailors, Walter and Ava, and our newly acquired Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 39i, we are ready to venture into both calm waters and open seas. Join us on our journey – a story where family life, boat maintenance, sailing, and adventure all go hand in hand.

Isabelle

This remarkable lady always comes up with a quick and funny comeback when you try to joke with her. She’s in charge over the Instagram account…and everything else.

She started sailing in 2016 when she met Gabriel. Her cleaning mania really comes in handy on the boat, and she also loves cooking. The perfect boat-wife huh? Despite being the perfect boat wife, she also has experience and knowledge regarding boat maintenance, safety and navigation.

Favorite food: Wine and cheese.
Certificates: Offshore Skipper Certificate, Coastal Skipper Certificate, Boat Mechanic Certificate, Maritime VHF Radio Operator (Short Range Certificate), Inland waterways Certificate, Inshore diploma, Practical boat driving in daylight.

Gabriel

This always-smiling man took his first steps on a boat. He’s a fearless enthusiast who sold his car at the age of 19 and bought a boat instead. Maybe not that practical, but SO worth it.

He loves everything that has to do with maintaining and upgrading the boat. Once he decides on a goal, nothing can stop him. It’s a good thing because it takes us to new places in life. He’s also an expert in bringing crew to the next level by being an excellent coach.

Favorite food: Everything that Isabelle cooks.
Certificates: Offshore Skipper Certificate, Coastal Skipper Certificate, Boat Mechanic Certificate, Maritime VHF Radio Operator (Short Range Certificate), Inland waterways Certificate, Inshore diploma, Practical boat driving in daylight.

Walter

This tiny crew member was born in May 2021. He decided that he wanted to share his birthday with his mom. Walter had his sailing premiere at the age of 12 days (if we’re not counting the time in Isabelle’s belly).

He is a curious boy with a lot of energy and ideas. You need to be in good shape to keep up with his speed. His favorite activity on the boat is winching, or practicing man over board by throwing things in the ocean.

Favorite food: Kalles kaviar.

Ava

Born in 2024, Ava is our youngest crew member. Her arrival was expected to be the day before Isabelle and Walter’s birthdays, but she decided to stay in the womb for an extra 5 days before making her entrance into the world.

She made her boating debut at just 5 days old and seems to enjoy life at sea. At the moment, she appears to be a bit calmer than her brother, but time will tell if that’s true.
